:: LONG TIME NO SEE ::

Hi hi hi people! Long time no see! What's new? I just have no time (or rather, didn't make time) to blog. Same thing, uploading on Facebook is much faster.

Alright, just to share some photos with those who are not on my Facebook account. Here are some pictures taken in May. More than a month ago!

We went to Sentosa for some team bonding / outing. Usually, I hate the sun. That's because I get tanned very easily and I'm already too tanned for my liking. Like the typical girly girl, I would like to have fair porcelain skin. But that's almost impossible for. It'll be a good thing if I'm not mistaken for a malay or Thai. In Singapore, Malay aunties talk to me in Melayu. Then after a while (of me giving them the blur look), they say "Eh? You're not Malay??" When I go to Thailand. They speak to me in Thai too and even better, tell me "Oh, I thought you're Thai. You look like Thai"....................... Not that it's a bad thing. But obviously, I'm not as fair as the usual Chinese girl lah. It's alright. I'm pretty. Hahhahahaha... oh-so-shameless! :p

Alright, these are the photos we took in Sentosa. Quite a fun (and also tiring) day.

:: busy bumble bee ::

Hello everyone! It has really been such a long long long time... My usual complaint. BUSY! Work has kept me so busy, really. So much more than what I have ever experienced. A typical day now looks like this - go to work, get off from work, sleep. Some lucky days (once in a few weeks), I get to meet up some friends for dinner after work. Oh, even if I do, I will be late for dinner because there would be some work to do just as I'm leaving the office. Damn.

Ok, so much complaints about my weekdays. For my weekends, I'll try to pack as much activities as I can into 2 days or just catch up on my sleep. So, blogging is a near impossible thing to do already. Plus, the picture uploading tool still sucks a big freaking time. It will cost me my precious sleep time if I do put up pictures here. Facebook is so much simpler.

For the benefit of those who are not on my facebook, below is a link of my pictures on some weekends. (Yea, I still have some social life. It's not totally about work now. If I ever get to that stage, do inform me. I'll change jobs.)

This is my primary school outing album. My goodness! Met up with primary school classmates after 13 long years! Most of us hadn't changed too much, and it's freaky! How come we still look the same after so long?
Then on another weekend, I had buffet lunch with the choo family at a nice restaurant! Bingma is always nice to bring me to great restaurants for yummy food. I shall bring her somewhere nice sometime too! :) :)

:: MFSS Babes ::

M.F.S.S stands for Mayflower Secondary School. Ocassionally, I will write about how grateful I am to the people who have lent a helping hand in my life. And these are some of them. If not for them, I would not have completed my O'Levels! I am a very grateful person; believes strongly in not biting the hand that feeds you. A strong value inculcated in me... Once a benefactor, always a benefactor.

Ok, enough of those philosophies. Haha. I invited more friends over for Chinese New Year. My 2 kawans and 1 peng you. As usual, we did stupid things like we always did in secondary school. I think the teachers hated us....always being disruptive in the class.

At my place
What do we have here...
acting cutesy - checked
normal look - checked
pouts - checked
food - checked
mandarin oranges - checked

Then we went for CNY visits at XY's place.
Another round of crazy photo taking!
Even her mom is not spared!

Ok, the mom left.
Terror begins.

.... and more....

AND MORE!!!

Well, that is it for the day with my MFSS babes.
Lots of goodies stuffing and photo taking.
That's the greatness of Digital Cameras!
Once you start, you can't stop.
Snap snap snap!!!

:: Guests at my house for CNY ::

Weiye - always the punctual guy, even when he knows all the rest will be late.

Number 1 to arrive and grace my house for CNY.

Once the others came, we started eating the goodies and gambling!

Usually I don't gamble. But for CNY and not to dampen the spirits, I played a few games.

Joan counting her winnings.

Yew Wei winning big money. Look at his estatic look...

The biggest winner. Maybe good luck for being the only punctual person?

And me? As usual, lost to my last cent. That's the reason why I don't like to gamble!

Ok, I'm out of the game.

We had so much fun nontheless.
Thank you guys for coming!

:: Happy Niu Year ::

Hello people! I have been so busy there was simply no time to post any pictures (plus the picture uploader on blogger is really slow). I posted the same (no, actually MORE) pictures on Facebook more than a week ago so easily! When is blogger going to have a picture uploader like facebook!

Anyway, here's my first picture on day 1 of Chinese New Year! Gong xi gong xi!

Headed to my grandma's house and we had Lao Yu Sheng. Ok, for the benefit of my dear friend who doesn't know what this is (you know who you are) and haven't seen this in your big big land. This is a traditional dish that we have during Chinese New Year to bring good luck. It's mainly made of shredded carrots / radish / seaweed (i think), there's also pomelo saps and thin slices of fish (like sashimi), oh and also the crackers to round it up.

It generally means good luck, and also symbolizes great prosperity, abundance of wealth, sweetness in our lives, etc etc. Everything good!

And we will gather around this dish - called Yu Sheng and toss it together. It's believed that it will bring good luck to those who toss it. :)

This is a family of my Lee family. Some of whom I only see once a year, some more than once a year. This year, my grandpa cannot be around to celebrate Chinese New Year with us.. and that made me a little sad. I had not had the chance to give him my first ang pow and it's really regrettable. I wish he had been around for a little while more....

This is my grandma, whom my dad loves just as much. She's nearly as old as my grandpa but seems more healthy. Maybe because she doesn't smoke? We all wish her good health and longevity. I know my dad will definitely be very sad if she's gone - which he has been worried about ever since my grandpa left.

Ok, on a happier note. This is my family gathering around the Yu Sheng to toss it while saying lucky words. It's always fun to do this. :)

After all the visiting in the day, I went to BQ's house too.

Here's us.
Lovey Dovey.

Ok, click here for more pictures on my Facebook!

:: Chinese New Year ::

Hello people! Chinese New Year is round the corner... Yea, it will happen in just about a week! I'm so excited! Are you? Hmm... I've been hearing people talk about how they dread Chinese New Year as the years go by, how it has become less and less fun, more and more boring, doing the same old stuff, seeing the same old farts and saying the same old things during the visits. And of course those who have to give red packets, they don't exactly look forward to burn a hole in their pockets at this time of the year. Generally, people feel that only kids [who only receive ang pows but do not have to give any, enjoy 2-3 more days of holidays, no scoldings for the 15-day Chinese New Year and get to eat lots of junk] would love this time of the year.

Well, I'm no longer a little kiddo but I am still looking forward to Chinese New Year! There will be some people whom I only see once a year (and have nothing to say to them) but there will also be people I look forward to spend more time with. I receive ang pows still and this year, it will be my very first year giving out some. Not to the kids in my family though, because I'm not married. (YEA GUYS, I'M NOT MARRIED!! .. I'm not available neither! Haha) I will be giving my dear parents some ang pows for the very first time in my life; I hope they live to a ripe old age in good health and I can still give them ang pows for the next few decades.

Ok, this year I finally brought my bagus kawan (good friend in Melayu) to Chinatown. Usually, she brings me to Geylang Serai / Arab street during Hari Raya and invites me to her home. She had quite a bit of fun tasting the mochi and dried fruits in our busy Chinatown streets. She was a great help with my heavy bags of goodies too.

My bagus kawan and me

Nice light ups in Chinatown

More lights (and people)

A hindu temple in Chinatown
I was pleasantly surprised to see this Chinese New Year greeting
Hey, racial harmony in Singapore is true ok.

Some Buddhist temple.
Just the right colour during this festive season.

Lion dance anyone?
Look at how excited that little boy is!

All the goodies in Chinatown.
And free tasting too!

This is what I have at home!
Yummy.. what is Chinese New Year without love letters, bak kwa & cookies~

In recent years, the Taiwanese mochi & jelly have been a big hit during our Chinese New Year!

A very happy woman with all her shopping

To get into the mood of Chinese New Year, I bought some decorations to beautify my home too. Some friends commented that I am becoming an auntie prematurely; much faster than I should by shopping for all these Chinese New Year stuff. Typically, it's the mom in the family who will do such things. Also, my mom actually commented that these things are too "Chinese" but I just shrug them off. Come on, it's Chinese New Year! What's stopping us from acknowledging our Chinese roots? I'm oriental, and I'm proud of it. (Ya, actually I'm the mom in the family too. My mom by name only.)

I really felt very happy buying so much goodies to give away and exchanging those new hundred dollar notes to put into the ang pows. It's another season of giving and feasting that I love! :)

Happy Niu Year!
Get ready to have a great new year!

Click here for my facebook pictures.

Ok, just like how I complain everytime I upload pictures here. It sucks! Facebook is so much better! I can upload more pictures at a fraction of the time on Facebook compared to what I can do here. Bad Blogger. It's time to get a picture uploading tool like Facebook man!
